  • Camera is delicious

Susan: “Skylars’ hair is crazy this morning.”
Michael: “Skylars’ hair is crazy every morning.”
Susan: “I have an idea. Let’s put a stretch lacy thingy on her head.”
Michael: “Brilliant. Then it can look even crazier.”
Skylar: “Give me camera. Must eat.”

  • Yucky foo!

Not everything in life is going to be a home run. Take peas with avocado for example. It’s not delicious. We’ll – don’t take it from me, Skylar’s face shows all:

    Can you say “Bleyah!”

  • Eating is funny

The majority of our time is spent trying to get Skylar to [fill in the blank.] The usual suspects are laugh, crawl, walk, or eat. Bonus points if you get her to do two at once!

  • Skylar’s Balloon

In case her chosen career of bio-geneticist doesn’t pan out, I’m training Skyar for a career as a head butting wrestler. We start off small with a bonk to Susan’s Valentines Day balloon. Baby steps.

I’m not sure which was funnier, hitting my head, or hitting hers. Yes, schadenfreude seems to be a very human experience regardless of age.

  • Yum Yum time

Below is a video of Skylar eating some yum yum.  I have a tendency to name things whimsically – food is yum yum, balloons are bonk bonks, and anything paper is tentatively known as ‘destroy it!’.  Sometimes I wonder if it’s going to affect her vocabulary, but the entertainment value is too high for me to change 🙂

  • Skylar and Mommy

Pictures from just after Christmas 2011. We went to Baltimore to a children’s museum called “Port Discovery”. It was crazy! They had a count down to New Years at 11:59 – AM instead of PM :). The other shots are back at the hotel room hanging out.

  • Strawberry or Watermelon

Apparently Skylar’s halloween outfit is really obvious.  Guesses anyone?  I said it was a watermelon, Susan’s swears it’s a strawberry, my dad said it was a lady bug.  Other guesses included pink cow, pink pumpkin, and pink tiger.

  • Don King

Skylar has the craziest hair.  Yesterday Susan lamented the fact that we went with’ Skylar’ instead of ‘Chloe’, because her hair is way too crazy for a ‘Skylar’.

Sometimes the little ones need us to verbalize things for them.  The day I shot this I was able to translate what Skylar was thinking by shouting repeatedly, “I’m Don King *&%)$.”

  • Skylar Baptism

We traveled to Lexington so that Horace could Baptize Skylar at the Oxford Presbyterian Church.  It has to be one of the most beautiful Churches I’ve seen.  The Church itself is this historic building with Cathedral ceilings, original 20 foot windows, and massive oak door with iron handles.

The location is the killer – tucked away in the midst of mountains and fields of gold with a graveyard that despite sounding creepy, is actually a sight to behold from a distance.

Skylar had been really good during the trip.  She enjoyed her smores at the mountain cabin and slept through the night, but the morning of the ceremony she only wanted to be held by Mommy Susinator or Tom – the baby whisperer.

  • Gillette’s birthday

This past September we went to Big Gillette’s house for little Gillette’s birthday.  Little Gillette is not so little anymore 🙂  I think I noticed some deepening of his voice – puberty won’t be far away.  Good luck with that!  I can make fun b/c our little one is… well, so much more little.

Lots of babies at these occasions.  I think it’s something in the water.
